Wildcats shoot down Eagles
An overpowering first quarter set the tone for a lopsided victory Thursday, as Dibrell’s boys closed out their regular season with a 49-18 thumping of Morrison.
Going ahead 16-2 by the end of the first quarter thanks largely to Kris Callender and Kevin Flatt, the Wildcats ‘ who will carry the No. 2 seed into this week’s county tournament ‘ led 22-6 at the half, and allowed just two field goals in the third as they continued to expand their lead.
Seven different Dibrell players scored during the game’s third quarter, helping the Wildcats build a 41-12 advantage by the period’s end and allowing them to substitute liberally through the closing six minutes of play.
In all, nine different Wildcats found their way into the scorebook with Callender’s 16 leading the way. Jordan Gribble added nine, including a 3-pointer, while Kevin Flatt scored six points. Mark Stanley, Cory Prince and Dakota Brown had four each, with Dakota Ware, Garrison Holmes and Jonathan Thatch tossing in two apiece.
Morrison’s Kyle Rutledge had 10, while Alan Lalonde scored six and Joey Pickel had two points.
