Champs to be crowned this week
Last year’s league champions will be looking for repeat performances this week, when the Warren County Elementary Basketball Association’s championship tournament tips off at the Charlie Dalton Gym.
The Eastside boys and Dibrell girls ‘neither of whom lost a county-league game this season ‘ take the No. 1 seeds into the tournament once again, and will await the winners of Monday night’s play-in games between the fourth- and fifth-seeded teams.
Action tips off Monday at WCHS, with a girls contest between fourth-seeded Centertown and the No. 5 Lady Tigers of Irving College at 5:30. The boys take the court next, with Morrison’s No. 4-ranked Eagles facing the No. 5 Tigers, and the evening concludes with a 7:30 matchup between Morrison’s second-seeded girls and the third-ranked Eastside Lady Bulldogs.
The first round concludes Thursday, with a 5:30 contest between Dibrell’s second-seeded Wildcats and the third-seeded boys from Centertown. The semifinals get underway at 6:30, with Dibrell’s girls facing Monday’s Centertown-Irving College winner, and Eastside’s boys take the court in the nightcap against either Morrison or Irving College’s boys.
Friday night’s round begins with the girls’ consolation game at 5 p.m., followed by the boys’ consolation game. The girls’ finals are set for 7 p.m., with the boys to follow at 8 o’clock.
