James Edward Grayson, 78

A veteran of the United States Marines and a Korean War veteran, James Edward Grayson died Dec. 26 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville. He was 78 years of age and a truck driver for BFI Waste Management.

The son of the late James and Virginia Marbury Grayson, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles A. Grayson.

A member of East End Drive Church of Christ, Mr. Grayson is survived by his wife, Shirley Ramsey Grayson of this city; three sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Tyshia Grayson of Detroit; Steven Grayson of McMinnville; and Lamont Grayson of Murfreesboro. Also surviving are three daughters, Tina Woods of McMinnville and Gina Solomon and Angela Roberts of Murfreesboro. Ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren survive as do brother Ernest W. McReynolds of Detroit and brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Marcella Grayson, also of Detroit.

Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at High’s Chapel with Phillip Smith, Jr., officiating. Visitation for Mr. Grayson will be Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon until time of service. Burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be performed by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.

High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
