A scoreless first quarter by Centertown helped the Eastside Bulldogs to a 34-14 win Tuesday night in fifth- and sixth-grade action at Centertown.
The Bulldogs’ Will Basham opened the game with a 3-pointer. Centertown had trouble holding onto the ball, which helped the Bulldogs to a 8-0 advantage by the end of the period.
Lake Hillis scored all four of the Bulldogs’ points in the second period. But Centertown fought its way back into the game when Dylan Young, John Webb and Alex Cripps hit one bucket apiece. But Eastside still held a 12-6 lead at the break.
Centertown struggled once again in the third period as Young hit for two baskets, which would be all the Warriors would score. The Bulldogs posted four points before running off six straight points to take a 22-10 lead by the end of the third quarter.
Eastside continued to extend its lead in the final period. Jon Reed hit for six points, while Guillermo Cabrera and Dylan George added one basket each. Centertown scored just four points as Caleb Hughes and Young added one bucket each.
For the Bulldogs, Peyton Collins led the way with eight points. Reed and Basham had six points each. Jacob Moore, George and Cabrera added two points each.
Young had eight points for Centertown. John Webb, Cripps and Hughes added two points each.
