Sports Briefs
The WCHS Football Booster Club will have a mandatory meeting for all parents on July 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Warren County High School Cafeteria.
The club needs to make plans for football camp and make other important decisions for the upcoming season, so as many parents as possible are asked to attend. If you cannot be there, please call Mike Holland at 939-2540, Tricia Robinson at 939-3515 or Stacey Southard at 473-6782.
WCMS softball tryouts
Warren County Middle School fastpitch softball coach Tessa Bouldin will hold tryouts for girls entering sixth through eighth grade at any county school July 23 and 24 from 4-6 p.m. each day. Possible make-up tryouts will be held on July 25.
Players are asked to register for tryouts July 23 at 3:30, and a parent or guardian must be present. The tryouts will be held at the Sam Martin Field in the Civic Center complex. for more information contact coach Bouldin at 931-273-6772.
Youth football sign-ups
The Warren County Youth Football League will hold registrations for football players and cheerleaders each Saturday in June beginning on the 16th. Registration will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the locker room behind the Bobby Ray Elementary School.
Eligible ages are any child turning 5 years old on or before July 31and 12 years old on or before the same date. The fee is $40 for football with players furnishing a practice jersey (league will have used jerseys for $5), and $20 for cheerleaders plus the cost of a cheer outfit. A photocopy of their birth certificate will be required.
In addition, all adults who wish to serve as head and assistant coaches must come by and fill out a registration form by June 30. They will be available on the same dates above. The league does want to inform all those interested that we will be sharing a schedule with the youth football program in White County which involves each team going to Sparta for one football game, with a playoff to follow at season’s end. NSA final chance qualifier
An NSA softball tournament for men’s D&E teams will be held Saturday, July 14, at the fairgrounds. The entry fee is $175, plus a $25 sanction fee if the team needs to be sanctioned.
NSA rules and stamped softballs will be used. Awards for first through third place, as well as all-tournament honors, will be given if 10 or more teams enter. For more information, contact Mary Roller at 931-473-0010 or 212-3223.
Youth soccer registration
The McMinnville Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Warren County Youth Soccer Association, would like to announce that registration for the 2007 Warren County Youth Soccer League to be played at Pistole Park Soccer Complex this fall, will be June 14 from 5-8 p.m., June 15 from 5-8 p.m., June 16 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., July 12 from 5-8 p.m., July 13 from 5-8 p.m. and July 14 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Registration will be at the McMinnville Civic Center, and boys and girls ages 4 1/2 to 15 are eligible. Summer Tennis Camp
USPTR instructor and WCHS coach David Dunlap will be conducting a tennis camp July 23-27 at the McMinnville Civic Center courts at a cost of $80 ($10 late fee after May 20). The camp will have three sessions, ages 5-8 from 7:30-8:30 a.m., ages 9-11 from 9:30-10 a.m. and ages 12-18 from 10-11:30 a.m. You can pick up a registration form at the McMinnville Civic Center.
Lady Pioneer Soccer Roadblock
The WCHS Lady Pioneer soccer team will be holding a roadblock July 7 from 8 a.m.-noon to raise money for much-needed new uniforms for the upcoming season this fall.
