Collins River holds Ladies tournament

The Collins River golf course held its second annual Ladies Day Tournament recently with 12 teams participating. Teams from McMinnville, Sparta, Doyle, LaVergne, Manchester, Woodbury, Tullahoma, Dechard, Winchester, Estill Springs and all across Middle Tennessee made their rounds on the Collins River course.
Two flights were rewarded with prizes going to first, second and third place in each flight. Winning first place in the first flight was the team of Carolyn Ingram, Sally Berryman, Shelly Downing and Diane Edmondson with a low score of 11-under par. Second place went to Gina Maxwell, Linda Trivett, Angie Wilhite and Jan Kendall with a round of 9-under par after going to a score card playoff. Third place went to Laura Smartt, Debbie Ladd, Loren Pickett and Dorene Ladd with a round of 9-under.
The team of Linda Hayes, Jane Arnold, Nancy Fraley and Karen Walker took first place in the second flight after carding a round of 7-under par. Second place saw the team of Kay Fager, Sharon Bartell, Carlene Henry and Susie Intorcia post a 2-under score. Third place went to Debbie Watlington, Beth Hall, Linda Spitzer and Deb Renstrom with a round of 1-under par.
‘We plan for this to become a regular event considering the big turnout we have had the past two years,’ said Collins River owner Hannah O’Neal.
‘The participation we have had and the distance everyone is willing to drive just to play here is a good indication that the market for women’s golf is continuing to grow. The ladies had a great day of golf and camaraderie. Everyone enjoyed a luncheon at the clubhouse after the completion of the round with everyone expressing their gratitude for such a great day out on the course.’
The Collins River course offers a ladies scramble every Monday evening.
