A three-man scramble to raise funds for the Grundy County Lions Club will be played Saturday, Oct. 6, at Willowbrook Golf Course. Entry fee is $200 per team, and includes green fees, cart and lunch.
Prizes to winning teams and individuals will be awarded, with as much as $225,000 in cash and merchandise possibly given away.

Octoberfest Men’s Open, co-ed tournament
A men’s open softball tournament will be played Saturday, Oct. 6, at the fairgrounds. The entry fee is $160, and deadline to register is Wednesday, Oct. 3. The home run rule will be 0-10 homers followed by an out. A home run derby will also be held for $10 an entrant, with the winner getting back half the entry money.
‘ A co-ed tournament will be held in conjunction with the men’s tourney, also with an entry fee of $160 and a deadline of Oct. 3. Men will be allowed two homers, with the next scored as a single, with no home run limit for women.

Greenway 5K
Get your running shoes on for the Greenway 5K Oct. 13. This is a fun yet challenging course for all runner with a cross country feel. Registration fee is $12 per person. You can pre-resgister at the McMinnville Civic Center or register the day of the race between 7-7:45 a.m. Registration forms are also avaiable on line at www.mcminnvilletenn.com. Jaycee basketball, cheer sign-ups
The McMinnville Jaycee basketball league will have sign-ups at the McMinnville Civic Center from 6-8:30 p.m. onMonday Oct. 1 and Tuesday Oct. 2.
An informational meeting for coaches and potential coaches will be held at the Civic Center on Tuesday, Oct. 2, and will last about an hour.
Prospective players should bring their $24 sign-up fee, proof of birthdate (even if he or she has played before), and a parent or guardian to sign the liability waiver. Boys may sign up from age 8-17 (18 if still in third or fourth year of high school). Girls ages 8-19 may sign up. Use Aug. 1, 2007, as the date to determine a player’s age. If a prospective player will be 8 years old by Feb. 15, 2008, he or she may sign up for the 2007-08 season.
