Howard Millard (Hoss) Whiteaker, 76

McMinnville resident and White County native Howard Millard (Hoss) Whiteaker, 76, was born March 12, 1931 and died Aug. 29 at River Park Hospital following a two-month illness.

A truck driver for 57 years where he was last an employee of Hillis Trucking and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Will and Lindy Mae Farley Whiteaker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Addie Jewel Billings, Bertie Lou Henery, Irene Howard, Pearl Whiteaker, Audrey Tibbs and Marlan Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Miller of McMinnville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lindy Patrice and Wayne Childers of Flowery Branch, Ga., Tracy Lee and Leslie Massa, and Brittany Elaine Harmon, all of McMinnville; grandson, Steven McKinley Johnson of Flowery Branch, Ga; great-granddaughter, Madison McKinley Johnson of Flowery Branch; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ann Whiteaker of Sparta; half-sister, Willie Mae Danilles of Cookeville and nephew, Jackie Whiteaker of Eagleville.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in High’s Chapel with Burdett Randolph officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at High’s.
