UCARTS brings transportation to everyone
Do you need a lift? If so, UCARTS will take you there.
Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency executive director Phyllis Bennett and Warren County Executive John Pelham have teamed together to bring a pilot program to Warren County.
The new program makes public transportation available to every resident in Warren County, no matter where they want to go.
‘A lot of people think this is to just visit the doctor,’ said Bennett. ‘But you can go anywhere. You can go shopping, visit friends, do your banking, whatever.’
One-way rides cost $1 and are good for any trip up to 10 miles. Residents must call 48 hours in advance to reserve a spot and there is a schedule.
UCARTS will run routes in the Centertown and Dibrell areas on Monday and Thursday. Routes in the Morrison and Viola areas are Tuesday and Friday. Routes in Irving College, Campaign and Rock Island areas are Wednesday.
Residents who live inside McMinnville city limits are eligible for rides Monday thru Friday.
‘We’ll be able to service anyone regardless of your means,’ said Pelham. ‘You don’t have to be a senior citizen. You can be a resident of Warren County who needs to come to town to get groceries or get a haircut. If you need transportation, this service is here for you.’
Any adult who needs transportation can call and UCARTS will take you anywhere you need to go inside the county.
Officials stress this is not an emergency service. If you need emergency help, call 911.
