WCHS boys tennis stays undefeated
The Warren County boys tennis team?s undefeated streak was on the line Thursday afternoon against Riverdale.
With the match tied at 3-3 it all came down to Pioneer Matthew Black, who defeated Preston Petty 8-2 to give the Pioneers a 4-3 victory and improve to 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in District 7-AAA action.
The Lady Pioneers didn?t fare as well, falling to the Lady Warriors 0-7 and dropping to 1-4 on the season.
Warren County?s Andy Vance fell to Jonathan Foti 6-1, 4-6, 3-6 in the No.1-seeded match. Morgan Gonder fell to Josh Miller 1-6, 2-6. But Dakota McGregor got things turned around for the Pioneers after picking up a 8-2 win over Kevin Krapf in the No.3 spot. Salem McGregor picked up a 8-6 win over Arash Kashef. In exhibition play, Brian Wilson defeated Jordan Edwards 8-6 and Bobby Rampp defeated Jacob Richardson 8-0.
In doubles Gonder and Black defeated Foti and Miller 8-6. Robby Brown and Sterling McClain dell to Krapf and Edwards 7-9 and in exhibition play Andrew Reuter and Wilson fell to Kashef and Petty 8-9.
Holly Ray fell to Ashley Lewis 2-6, 0-6. Anne Claire Roberts fell in three sets to Jessie Hoaglin 6-4, 6-7, 2-6. Katie Campen fell 3-8 to Amy Trevathan. AShley Reuter lost her match to Christina Kilburn 2-8. Mio Nakagawa fell 1-8 to Anne Guiler. Jamie Bush fell in an exhibition match to Bethann Anthony 4-8 and Sara Walker fell to Courtney Kirby 5-8.
In doubles play, Ray and Robert fell 4-8 to Lewis and Hoaglin. Campen and Bush fell 3-8 to Trevathan and Kilburn.
