Three men accused of stealing nursery pipe
Three local men face felony theft charges for stealing hundreds of feet of nursery pipe from Hills Creek Nursery.
The suspects, Jessie Parker, Jason Ward and Margle Ward, are each charged with theft over $1,000 for stealing the irrigation pipe from the Irving College nursery.
?All in all, we?re talking about over $6,000 worth of irrigation pipe,? said sheriff?s investigator Bo Ramsey. ?We think they took it with plans to sell it. That?s why they were cutting it up.?
Ramsey explained the aluminum pipe was being stored in 30-foot sections at the nursery. The thieves, lawmen believe, brought a trailer to the nursery and loaded it aboard, dragging the oversize pipe behind the trailer down Beersheba Highway as they made their getaway just before 1 a.m.
?You know it had to make a horrible racket sliding along the blacktop,? said sheriff?s chief investigator Herb Rowland. ?People couldn?t help but hear them go by that time of night given the noise they were making.?
Ramsey said one of the suspects was caught in the act of cutting up the irrigation pipe for resale when officers arrived acting on a tip.
?It goes to show you some people will steal anything,? noted Sheriff Jackie Matheny.
