Nashville chamber preparing for president to visit next week
Local business leaders have been invited by the chamber to a Wednesday morning speech at the Grand Ole Opry House. The event is set for the day after Bush delivers his annual State of the Union address.
White House officials don’t release the president’s schedule until about a day in advance for security reasons.
Chamber CEO Michael Neal said his group wasn’t organizing the event.
“We’ve just been given 100 invitations to extend to our board of directors (and others),” he said.
Bush carried Tennessee in his two races for president.
The president last visited the state in April, when a thunderstorm caused him to detour from an event in Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the McGhee Tyson Air Base.
He appeared in Memphis in March to promote his plan to reform Social Security.
Bush was last in Nashville in 2004 to address the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
