Man’s body found at base of Ozone Falls

CROSSVILLE (AP) — A Cumberland County man appears to have accidentally fallen to his death from a 110-foot cliff at Ozone Falls, authorities said.

The body of 24-year-old Adam Price of Westel was recovered Friday from the base of the waterfall, which is part of the Cumberland Mountain State Park south of Crossville.

“At this time we have no reason to suspect anything other than accidental death,” Sheriff’s Department investigator David Gibson said. “However, we have sent the body to Nashville for an autopsy, just to make sure it is as it appears.”

Price was found sprawled across the rocks by a man hiking with his family.

“The way I understand it, he found the body and was just trying to get out of there to call 911 when he ran into the father, who was looking for his son,” Gibson said. “The father wanted to go down there but started having chest pains, and that is when we were called.”

Investigators had not found witnesses and believe the accident could have happened sometime after dark Thursday or early Friday morning.
