Wavel Merriman Alford, 61

Woodbury resident and Cannon County native Wavel Merriman Alford, 61, died May 16 at Centennial Medical Center after a short illness.

A retired Aquatech employee and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, she was the daughter of Martha Merriman of Woodbury and the late Walter Merriman; and was preceded in death by husband, Tom Alford.

She is survived by son, Marlon Alford of Woodbury; daughter, Kathy Alford of Warren County; grandson, Trenton Seals of Warren County; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Rachel Merriman of Woodbury, Joe and Brenda Merriman of Woodbury, Jimmy and Kathryn Merriman of McMinnville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Donald Foster of Warren County, Ann and Truman Prater of Centertown; several nieces and nephews; special friends and companion, Paul Churchwell of Manchester, Mary Evelyn Johnson, Judy Johnson and Susan Trail.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodbury Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Oliver and Roger Confer officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-10 p.m. today at Woodbury Funeral Home.
