County tournament tips off Tuesday night

The county’s elementary basketball teams will wrap up their 2004-05 seasons this week, as the Warren County Elementary Basketball Association’s championship tournament tips off Tuesday at WCHS.

Both the boys and girls teams from Morrison will carry the No. 1 seeds into the tournament, while Eastside is seeded No. 2 in both brackets. The top two seeds automatically earn first-round byes, and will not see action until Thursday’s semifinal round.

First-round action begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday, with Warren County Middle’s seventh-grade girls facing Irving College in a matchup between the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds, respectively. At 6:15, Centertown’s third-seeded boys will take on No. 6 Irving College, while Dibrell’s No. 3 girls will face No. 6 Centertown at 7:30. The WCMS boys face Dibrell in a No. 4 versus No. 5 matchup at 8:45 to wrap up the evening’s action.

Thursday’s semis are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. with Eastside’s girls taking on the Dibrell-Centertown winner, with the Morrison boys facing either WCMS or Dibrell at 6:15. Morrison’s girls hit the floor at approximately 7:30 to face either WCMS or Irving College, and Eastside’s boys take on the Centertown-Irving College winner at 8:45.

Consolation games and championship matchups are set for Saturday, beginning with the girls’ consolation game at 5 p.m.
