Freshmen whip White County: Mullican, Officer connect for two TDs in 35-6 win

Coach Jeff Watson’s squad struck on its first possession, with quarterback Kyle Mullican hooking up with Chase Officer from 15 yards out after Chris Burris recovered a fumble at the Warrior 36-yard line.
Late in the first quarter, tailback Justin Bouldin gave the Pioneers a 13-0 lead, going in from 22 yards out. Bouldin added his second TD run, a 5-yard effort, midway through the second quarter. Mullican connected with Burris on the 2-point conversion, making it a 21-0 Pioneer lead.
White County added a 71-yards touchdown pass late in the half, and Warren County’s Tony Garibaldi missed a 35-yard field goal, sending the two squads into the break with WCHS on top 21-6.
Mullican and Officer connected on another TD strike late in the third, this time from 23 yards out, and Brandon Rich powered his way in from the 1-yard line in the opening moments of the fourth quarter to provide the final margin of victory.
Rich finished with 32 yards on six carries, while Bouldin had 16 touches for 152 yards. Mullican completed 7-of-15 pass attempts for 90 yards and three touchdowns.
“We played a lot better than we did against Manchester, but we’re still making a lot of mistakes,” Watson said. “We can fix all that, it will just take more effort.
“We had a lot of good effort this week, and we have to keep improving if we want to continue to be successful.”
The freshmen are off this week, and will next be in action Sept. 16, when they play host to Tullahoma.
