Coming from McMinnville, Gwyn has reached the top
Congratulations go out to
McMinnville native Mark
Gywn who reached the pinnacle
of Tennessee law enforcement
yesterday.
In receiving the job of TBI director
from Gov. Phil Bredesen,
Gwyn put it correctly when he
said this is proof, “You can
start at the bottom and work
your way to the top.”
Gwyn did just that, beginning
his career as a McMinnville
patrolman. He then accepted
a position with the TBI
and stuck with it until he was
promoted to TBI headquarters.
From there, he held a variety of
highlevel positions before his
appointment yesterday to the
director’s job.
For anyone struggling with
selfconfidence and having
doubts about their ability,
Gwyn’s story is the perfect motivational
tool. He’s proof that
a positive attitude – and integrity
– still account for something.
Hard work can pay great
dividends.
Gwyn’s promotion is also a
testament to the competence of
the McMinnville Police Department,
which played a role in
shaping the state’s newest TBI
director.
Most of all, it’s indicative of
the work ethic and high standards
of Mark Gwyn, who can
take the reins of the TBI secure
in the fact he truly earned the
job.
