Henry-Perry says vows in Sparta church
The bride is the daughter of Lucille Henry and the late A.P. Henry of Sparta. She is the granddaughter of the late Beecher and Louella Brown and the late Oscar and Ethel Henry, all of Sparta.
The bridegroom’s parents are Hershel and Brenda Perry of Beersheba Springs. He is the grandson of Irene Butcher and the late Howard Butcher of McMinnville, and the late Isaac and Berthina Perry of Beersheba Springs.
The ceremony was performed at 1 p.m. by Pastor Jerry Barnwell. Phyllis Martin was the guest register attendant.
A program of country love songs was played as the guests assembled. “From this Moment On” was the musical selection used for the lighting of the unity candle and “When You Say Nothing at All” was played as the two bridal mothers lit their candles.
The church entrance was graced with three chandeliers and white satin bows marked each church pew. The altar, banked with baskets of Boston fern and cherub angels, was illuminated by burning tapers in 13-branched candelabras enhanced with peach roses, white lilies, baby’s breath and greenery. These flowers also accented the unity candle arrangement.
The bride was escorted to the altar by her brother, Bob Brown of Waterford, Mich. She was radiant in a white satin gown embellished with pearls, sequins and beaded lace. The wedding dress was designed with a halter-style neckline, princess waist and long A-line skirt. The fingertip veil of silk illusion was attached to a headpiece of white satin roses and pearls.
She wore a pearl necklace featuring three small center diamonds and pearl teardrop earrings and carried six long-stemmed peach roses with baby’s breath and greenery tied with peach ribbon streamers.
Kayla Williams of Sparta, niece of the bride, was maid of honor. She was attired in a long satin gown of hunter green. The bodice was styled with spaghetti straps that criss-crossed in the back. She held a bouquet of miniature peach roses, baby’s breath and white daisies tied with peach ribbon streamers.
Flower girl was Chelsea Perry, daughter of the bridegroom. She wore a hunter green dress in a tea-length. A mid-line jacket was worn over a velvet bodice that was accented at the waist by a bow. A white satin beaded band was worn on her head and she held a hunter green and peach lace basket filled with peach rose petals.
Ring bearers were the bride’s nephews, Nicholas and Kyle Henry of Alexandria. They carried a white satin, heart-shaped pillow bearing two gold bands.
Mr. Perry served as his son’s best man. Ushers were Shad Dunlap of McMinnville and Bryan Perry of Beersheba Springs.
The bride’s mother wore a taupe colored ensemble with a silk lace and ruffle overlay. Two peach rosebuds, baby’s breath and peach ribbon formed her corsage. Mother of the bridegroom wore a soft peach dress with lace trimming the jacket collar. A corsage of peach roses and baby’s breath tied with peach ribbon was pinned at her shoulder. His grandmother was attired in a peach two-pieced suit and also wore a corsage of peach roses and baby’s breath.
Immediately after the ceremony, a reception was given in the church fellowship room by Jeannie Williams, sister of the bride; Opal Barlow, Dora Qualls and Maude Sparks, friends of the bride, all of Sparta. Approximately 100 guests were in attendance.
The three-tiered wedding cake supported by crystal columns was iced in royal white frosting and enhanced with Cornelli lace and ruffles, peach flowers and foliage. The anniversary tier held a pair of white doves, heart-shaped lace and peach flowers.
The bridegroom’s three-tiered confection was decorated to depict a tuxedo. The cake was iced in butter cream frosting with Cornelli lace and ruffles and strawberries dipped in chocolate.
Tammy Orrick of McMinnville made and served the bride’s cake and serving the bridegroom’s cake was Jean Anderson of Murfreesboro, aunt of the bridegroom.
The bride is a 1991 graduate of White County High School and received an associate’s degree in sociology from Motlow State Community College. She is employed by River Park Hospital.
The bridegroom graduated in 1992 from Warren County Senior High School and received EMT-IV licenses after attending Motlow College. He is employed by Med Stat EMS of Manchester. He is also an active member of the Warren County Rescue Squad.
After honeymooning in Gulf Shores, Ala., they are residing in McMinnville.
