Dibrell girls edge Lady Tigers 18-13
Dibrell’s fifth- and sixth-grade girls held on for a narrow victory Tuesday night, as they took an 18-13 win over Irving College.
A quick start proved to be key for the Lady Wildcats, as they got six points from post Sarah Roller to go up 8-2 by the end of the first period. Sarah and Jessica Roller combined for the Lady Wildcat’s five second-quarter points, while Keri Greene provided the Lady Tigers’ only field goal of the period as Dibrell took a 13-4 lead into the break.
Irving College came on strong in the second half, out-scoring their hosts 5-2 in the third period thanks to three points from Keri Roberts. The Lady Tigers put up four points in the fourth quarter while holding Dibrell to just three, but couldn’t quite pull off the comeback as Dibrell held on for the five-point win.
Leading the way in the scoring column for the victorious Lady Wildcats was Sarah Roller, who finished with nine points. Lauren Wilkinson had five, while Jessica Roller chipped in four points.
Roberts and Greene had four points each to lead Irving College, while Danna Wells scored three and Callie Griffin had two.
