“The girls did a great job tonight. I was very impressed by the way the girls came out and took control of the game. DeKalb put three runs on the board early but after that our pitching and solid defense shut them down. We played very good in the field tonight and didn’t make many mistakes. We had big hits when we needed them and all the girls got up there and swung the bat well,” said head coach Franklin Fisher.

In the junior varsity game both teams went down in order in the first inning. DCMS put two runs on the board in the second. But the Lady Pioneers answered in the top of the third with two walks a double from Jennifer Koelbl and a triple by Kristine Thomanson scored two runs to tie the game at 2-2. DCMS added three runs in the bottom of the third and added three more in the fourth. The Lady Pioneers put runners on in the top of the fifth with two walks and a single by Catherine Stubblefield but the runners were thrown out trying to steal as DeKalbs junior varsity preserved the win. Koelbl, Thomanson and Stubblefield had one hit each.

“They did a good job tonight. We got three pitchers some needed work tonight in Jessica Mullican, Casi Wannamaker and Kayly Murray and they all did a good job. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, this was a good game for the JV,” Fisher said.
