Single tickets to the 22 Classical, 12 Pops, five Special Event and three Pied Piper concerts that make up the Nashville Symphony’s 2002-03 season will go on sale today. Ticket prices, which range from $10 to $63, can be purchased through Ticket-master or at www.nash-villesymphony.org. Single tickets will also be available Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the NSO’s Box Office, 2000 Glen Echo Rd., Suite 204 in Green Hills.

The Symphony’s new season boasts world-renowned guest artists such as pianists Emanuel Ax, Garrick Ohlsson and Alexander Toradze, as well as violin virtuosos Leila Josefowicz and Chee-Yun. The Classical series will also feature piano concertos by Mozart, Bach, Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky; violin concertos by Prokofiev, Brahms, Mendelsshon and Sibelius; and symphonies ranging from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 to Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 at Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 15.

Along with these familiar favorites, the Symphony plans to stretch the minds of its listeners with new repertoire including John Adams’ Harmonielehre and Short Ride in a Fast Machine, Carter’s Piano Concerto and Piston’s The Incredible Flutist.

In addition, the Symphony’s exciting and eclectic Pops series will feature Grammy and Emmy award-winning songwriter Randy Newman; Bernard Herrmann’s and Dmitri Tiomkin’s chilling, thrilling Hitchcock movie scores played live to picture; an evening of Broadway favorites; and Celtic great John McDermott, among others.

The Nashville Symphony will launch its 2002-03 season Sept. 5 with an Opening Night Gala Concert featuring the extraordinary, multi-talented Bobby McFerrin.

Other Special Events include a performance of Handel’s Messiah on Dec. 10 and 11; the NSO’s annual tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “Let Freedom Sing!,” Jan. 19; and a Valentine’s Day concert Feb. 14 featuring Air Supply.
