Man arrested in connection with body found in well
An arrest has been made in the case of the mysterious body found in a well in neighboring Cannon County recently.
The body, now identified as that of Jeff Bell of Cannon County, was found earlier this month at the bottom of a hand-dug well in eastern Cannon County.
Lawmen had suspected all along the torso found in the well belonged to Bell, who had been missing for several weeks. Bell’s vehicle had been found abandoned in Warren County. Traces of blood, along with Bell’s wallet, were found inside.
Arrested for his murder is Roger M. Todd, 49, of Cannon County. He was an acquaintance of the victim.
Lawmen say bone fragments belonging to Bell were found only yards from Todd’s home. A motive for the crime has not been revealed, but lawmen say more arrests are expected.
Autopsy reports revealed Bell had been shot several times and his body burned before he was dismembered, with part of his remains thrown in the well. DNA tests confirmed the body parts found in the well and near Todd’s home were those of Bell.
