Alley pleads not guilty to rape charges
Twenty-one people were arraigned last week by Circuit Court Judge Charles Haston.
Those appearing before the bench were given June 14 plea or assignment dates. A plea or assignment date is the date by which the defendant must announce a negotiated settlement or have his or her case set for trial before a jury.
Included in arraignment action:
• Mark (Apple Jack) Alley entered a not guilty plea to the charge of child rape. He is accused of molesting a 9-year-old boy. He also faces additional charges for allegedly molesting five other boys. Some of the victims claimed they were molested as long as 20 years ago.
• David Blevins entered a not guilty plea to the charge of aggravated assault.
• Bradley Lonsinger, Diena King Tate and Samantha Dover entered not guilty pleas to the charge of aggravated assault.
• Harold Johnson entered a not guilty plea to the charge of assault.
• Randy Davenport entered a not guilty plea to the charge of criminal attempt to manufacture meth.
• Shawn Eric Bell entered a not guilty plea to charges of manufacture of meth and simple possession of drugs.
• Scott Dewey entered a not guilty plea to charges of simple possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
• Ralph Earl Lawrence Sr. entered a not guilty plea to charges of possession of drugs and reckless driving.
• James Fleenor entered a not guilty plea to charges of attempted manufacture of meth, evading and resisting arrest, violation of habitual traffic offender status, possession of a weapon and ninth-offense driving on a revoked license.
• Ricky Hobbs and Daniel Lance entered not guilty pleas to charges of aggravated burglary, burglary and theft.
• Melanie Louise Farrar entered a not guilty plea to charges of forgery and theft.
• Millicent Gamble entered a not guilty plea to the charge of theft.
• Tracy Alan Bennett entered a not guilty plea to charges of burglary and theft.
• Ricky Hobbs and Daniel Lance entered not guilty pleas to charges of aggravated burglary, theft, simple possession of drugs and possession of a weapon.
• Bennie Myers entered a not guilty plea to charges of reckless endangerment with a weapon, fifth-offense DUI and driving on a revoked license.
• Willard Jason Fults entered a not guilty plea to charges of reckless driving, resisting arrest and driving without a license.
• Jessie Strothers entered a not guilty plea to charges of DUI, simple possession of drugs, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
In sentencing action last week:
• Tony Moore was ordered to serve 120 days of a four-year sentence, pay $2,000 plus court costs and put his picture in the paper for sale of drugs.
• George Melson was instructed to serve 30 days of an 11-month, 29-day sentence for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
