Cruz bound to grand jury for unlawful sale of alcohol

A 46-person docket was heard Tuesday by Judge Larry Ross in General Sessions Court.

Included in court action:

• Rogelio Vasquez Cruz was bound over to the grand jury on charges of unlawful sale of alcoholic beverages and possession of alcohol for resale.

Cruz faces the charges after police raided his store, Mi Pueblo, in the Skyline neighborhood last month. The raid came after lawmen allegedly made undercover alcohol buys there, including buys on Sunday when sale of alcohol is forbidden and a buy of liquor which cannot legally be sold in Warren County. Cruz did not have a license to sell any alcohol.

Police seized numerous cases of beer and liquor during their raid along with $36,000 cash which has been forfeited by Cruz. In addition to local charges, Cruz, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, may also face federal charges as he is being investigated by several federal agencies including the Immigration and Naturalization Service as well as the Internal Revenue Service.

Another man, who was found at the store bearing a false identification also appeared with Cruz Tuesday.

Sael Montiel Jimenez was directed to serve 30 days of a six-month sentence for criminal impersonation for the fake identification.

• Jackie Harrison was bound over to the grand jury on charges of theft and forgery.

• Bobby Northcutt was bound over to the grand jury on the charge of theft over $1,000.

• Jackie Harrison was bound over to the grand jury on charges of theft and forgery.

• Manuel Gomez was issued a six-month probationary sentence on the charge of assault.

• Theia S. Martin was given an 11-month, 29-day probationary sentence and must pay $10 plus costs and attend parenting classes for child abuse.

• Mack Mullican Jr. was given an 11-29 probationary sentence and must pay $50 restitution and attend anger management courses for assault.

• Stanley F. Carpenter was ordered to serve five days of an 11-29 sentence, pay $10 plus costs and perform 12 hours public service work for domestic assault and vandalism.

• Thomas Bonner was bound over to the grand jury on the charge of possession of drugs for resale.

• Tracy Silcox was bound over to the grand jury on the charge of attempt to manufacture drugs.

• Sedrick Cummings was bound over to the grand jury on charges of possession of drugs and resisting arrest.

• Ricky Cantrell was bound over to the grand jury on charges of cruelty to animals and public intoxication.

• Michael S. Farmer was fined $10 plus costs for disorderly conduct.

• Brenda Hickey must serve 48 hours and pay $50 plus costs for public intoxication.

• Jenny McCloud was granted a six-month judicial diversion and must pay $10 plus costs for passing a worthless check in the amount of $56.

• Ruben Cansino was fined $10 plus costs for driving without a license.

• Marilyn Whitman must serve 30 days and have her probation extended by one year for violation of probation.

Clarification

• Angela Walker of Bethel Road in Smithville, a nurse at Kiddie Kare who attends Covenant Fellowship Church and the wife of David Walker who is a teacher at West Elementary, is not the Angela Walker appearing on the court docket.
