Titans sign 27 undrafted free agents
Jarrett Payton, a running back from the University of Miami, joined 26 other free agent signings by the Titans. Payton ran for 985 yards and seven touchdowns in his final season at Miami, including 131 yards in a 16-14 win over Florida State in the Orange Bowl.
Four players from Tennessee colleges were signed — cornerback Scott Cunningham of Tennessee State, defensive end Treveco Lucas of Memphis, strong safety Brandon Lynch of Middle Tennessee and wide receiver Kevin Wolcott of Tusculum.
Other defensive backs signed were Jonas Rutledge of SMU, Akil Grant of Northern Illinois and Justin Sandy of Northern Iowa.
Defensive signees included linebackers John Leake of Clemson and Maurice Sonnier of Louisiana-Monroe, and defensive linemen Grant Bowman of Michigan, Aaron McConnell of Pittsburg State and K.T. Stovall of Appalachian State.
Besides Wolcott, the Titans signed wide receivers Chad Lucas of Alabama State, Tramon Douglas of Grambling, Richard Musinski of William and Mary, Mickey Peters of Texas Tech and Jake Roberts of Central Washington.
Other offensive signees included quarterback Robert Kent of Jackson State, running backs Vick King of McNeese State and Ronald McClendon of Mississippi, offensive linemen Dennis Alexander of Alabama, Bryce Bishop of Ohio State, Chris Frank of Sacramento State, Hugh Reilly of Georgia Tech and Artavious Williams of Alabama-Birmingham.
