Obituary Report for February 1, 2004

Carl Beasley, 68
McMinnville resident and Warren County native Carl Beasley, 68, died unexpectedly Jan. 29 at River Park Hospital.

A retired barber, he was the son of Alvin and Pauline Curtis Beasley; and was preceded in death by granddaughter, Michelle Beasley.

He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Peggy Beasley, and John Beasley, all of Cookeville; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Elton Dunlap of Rock Island, Karen and Rick Martin of Sparta; eight grandchidren, five great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; sister, Noeldean Talbott of McMinnville; brother, Danny Johnson of McMinnville; aunts, Eureatha London and Ethel Curtis, both of McMinnville, and Ollie Walker of Illinois; and companion, Dorothy Stembridge of McMinnville.

Services were held Saturday at High’s Chapel with burial following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Emma Jean Barks, 79
McMinnville resident and Warren County native Emma Jean Barks, 79, died Jan. 28 at River Park Hospital.

A retired waitress and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of James Edward and Mary Frances Arnold Barks; and was preceded in death by son, Harold Cain; and two brothers, Houston and Bill Barks.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Charles Driver of McMinnville; grandchildren and spouses, Marsha and Mark Ferrell, Denise and Steve Mayfield, all of Rock Island, Jeffery and Rachel Green of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Brittany Mayfield, Kellie and Kylie Green; cousin, Alvia Jean Myers of McMinnville; special friends, Jennifer Fults, the staff of Medical Home Health, L.C. and Dorothy Mayfield.

Memorial services were held Saturday at High’s Chapel

John Vance Hunter, 46
Rock Island resident and Warren County native John Vance Hunter, 46, died Jan. 31 at his home after an extended illness.

A Carrier employee and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of Ruth Lowery Hunter of McMinnville and the late James Hunter.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Hunter; son Shahn Hunter of Rock Island; daughters Tisha and Holly Hunter of Rock Island; brothers Mike Hunter of McMinnville and Larry Hunter of Georgia; sisters Carolyn Hunter of Ohio and Karen Smith of Pennsylvania; grandchildren Michelle Lance and Payton Cook, both of McMinnville; grandfather Wilburn McDowell of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home with Titus Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. till the time of the service at Love-Cantrell & Cope.
