Ruth Elizabeth Moulton, 80
Danville resident and Silver Point native Ruth Elizabeth Moulton, 80, died March 11 at Provena USMC Logan Campus.
A member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness Church in Danville, she served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 and attained the rank of sergeant. She was employed with the Danville Veterans Affairs office for over 14 years and enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles.
The daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Gustava Pearl Sypert Medley, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Moulton Jr. in 1983; brothers, Alfred, Robert and Howard Medley; one infant brother, sister, Bula Maggart; and granddaughter, Rachel Megan Moulton. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. and Bertha Moulton of Leesville, La., John and Candi Moulton of Galesburg, Ill., Robert and Barbara Moulton III of Carmel, Ind.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald Medley of Shelbyville, Joe Medley of Baxter, Kenneth (Buddy) and Nell Medley of McMinnville; sisters, Ula Mathis of Smithville and Lucille Fuson of McMinnville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Funeral Home with Richard Harmeson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Harmeson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Worldwide Works of Jehovah’s Witness.

Nellie Brewer, 76
Murfreesboro resident and Cumberland County native Nellie Brewer, 76, died March 11 at St. Thomas Hospital after an extended illness.
A homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Mack and Isabell Green Barnes; and was preceded in death by grandson Frank Goodman.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Tommy Sims of McMinnville, Betty and Bob McCormick of Murfreesboro and Pam Brewer of Cincinnati, Ohio; sons and daughter-in-law, J.D. Phillips of Alabama, Ron Brewer of Murfreesboro, Joe and Lynn Brewer of Cincinnati; 16 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and sister, Jewell Snider of Huntsville.
Services were held Thursday at Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home Chapel with Arlon Way officiating. Burial followed at Mt. View Cemetery.

John L. Camp, 62
Sparta resident John L. Camp, 62, died March 11.
An attorney maintaining a law practice with his stepson, Richard House, in the Sparta law firm of Camp & Camp, he was a former city judge in Carthage, a White County Commissioner and a member of the Tennessee Board of Governors. He was elected a delegate to the 1977 Constitutional Convention and to the 1979 Tennessee State Democratic Committee. He was also a member of numerous organizations including the American and Tennessee bar associations and the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife and former law partner, Angela Ashe Camp. He is survived by his mother, Eloise Camp; stepsons, William House, Richard House and Ethan House; and grandchildren, Emma and Sophie House.
Services were held Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta with burial following at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Angela Camp Memorial Scholarship Fund established by the White County Bar Association which assists female law students with tuition. Donations may be made through the Nashville School of Law, 2934 Sidco Drive, Nashville, Tenn. 37204.

Obern William Cantrell, 72
McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native Obern William Cantrell, 72, died March 11 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville after a lingering illness.
A mechanic and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Ressie Cope Cantrell.
He is survived by his wife, Reba Cantrell; daughter and son-in-law, Sahlen and Jimmy Trapp of McMinnville; daughters, Sandra Carter of McMinnville, Vivian Stiles of Panama City, Fla., and Pam Cantrell of Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Hansel, Larkin and Wallon Cantrell, all of McMinnville; granddaughters, Amanda and Cassaudra Trapp of McMinnville; and grandsons, Matthew and Jamison Stiles of Panama City.
Private family services were held.

James Garmon Davis, 87
Chattanooga resident and McMinnville native James Garmon Davis, 87, died March 13.
A retired terminal manager for Tri-Carolina Transportation, a former terminal manager for ETWNC Transportation, and a long-time member and past president of the Chattanooga Motor Carrier Association and past member of Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, he was a member of Christ’s Family Church in McMinnville.
The son of the late James Harrison and Ethel Adeline Davis, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Weekley Davis; brother, Oliver Davis and sister, Clayta Duncan.
He is survived by sons, William G. Davis of Buena Vista, Colo., James M. Davis of Chattanooga and David M. Davis of Harrison; brother, William (Bill) Davis of McMinnville; sisters, Frances Woods of McMinnville, Virginia Scholl of Rock Spring, Ga., and Jimmy Faye Dockery of Hixson; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Christ’s Family Church in McMinnville. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ’s Family Church, 2285 South Chancery Street, McMinnville 37110. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel on East Brainerd Road in Chattanooga.

Beatrice (Sissie) Jones, 77
Baxter resident Beatrice (Sissie) Jones, 77, died at NHC in Cookeville.
A librarian for the Baxter branch of Upper Cumberland Library for 38 years, a former city recorder for the town of Baxter, and a member of Trinity Assembly, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Vander Mai Maxwell Palmer.
She is survived by her husband, Foil Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Helen Palmer of Dearborn, Mich., Mack and Glenda Palmer of McMinnville, Bobby and Sarah Palmer of Cookeville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and D. Huddleston of Cookeville and Ruth Palmer of Baxter; several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Paul Jones and sisters-in-law, Leila and Georgia Jones.
Services were held Thursday at Trinity Assembly in Algood with Eddie Turner officiating. Burial followed at Crest Lawn Cemetery.

Floyd (Tommy) Gunter, 63
McMinnville resident and Roane County native Floyd (Tommy) Gunter, 63, died March 12 at his home after a six-month illness.
A rock quarry dozer operator for 21 years, he attended Freedom Missionary Baptist Church and was the son of the late Dick Austin and Viola May Miles Gunter; and was preceded in death by brother, Clyde Gunter.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Wilma Faye Webster Gunter; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Terry and Karen Faye Gunter of Apopka, Fla.; grandsons and spouse, Timothy Jerome (T.J.) and Michelle Gunter of McMinnville, Timothy Kaleb Gunter of Apopka; granddaughters, Christina Faye and Bethany Hope Gunter of Apopka; great-granddaughter, Destiny Faith Gunter of McMinnville; brother, Lee Roy and Lou Gunter of Centertown; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carlin and Barry Pence, Bonnie Jo and Ernie Cantrell and Nyoka Gunter, all of McMinnville, Gladys and Bill Graham of Morrison; sister-in-law, Bertha Gunter of Morrison; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ben Arless Payne, 72
Rock Island resident and Warren County native Ben Arless Payne, 72, died March 13 at River Park Hospital.
A retired heavy equipment operator and a member of the Church of Christ, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
The son of Annie Pearl Mayfield Payne of Rock Island and the late, Aaron Payne, he is survived by his wife, Wilma Payne; daughter and son-in-law, Freda and Steve Guy of Rock Island; son, Blake Johnson of McMinnville; grandsons and their spouses, Tommy and Michelle Hodges of Centertown, Josh and Sethly Hodges of Rock Island; great-granddaughter, Samantha Hodges of Centertown; brother, Gerald Payne of Rock Island; sister, Joetta Payne of Rock Island; several nieces and nephews.

Catherine Ferrell Pirtle, 70
Woodbury resident and Cannon County native Catherine Ferrell Pirtle, 70, died March 13 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
A retired seamstress for Colonial and a member of Iconium Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Carlie Watson Ferrell; and was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie James Pirtle.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, James Brent and Cheryl Pirtle, Terry Wade and Patricia Pirtle, Anthony Lee and Tanya Pirtle, all of Woodbury; grandchildren, Joseph Calvin Pirtle of McMinnville, Jana Marie Pirtle, Christopher Wade Pirtle and Megan Deanne Pirtle, all of Woodbury; brothers, Loyde Ferrell of Woodbury and Ralph Ferrell of Beech Grove; sisters, Jennie Hartley of Shelbyville, Mary Nell Lynn of Hillsboro, Annette Green of Wartrace, Linda Hillard of Unionville, Helen Ledbetter of Shelbyville and Betty Comstock of Shelbyville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Freddie and Frances Pirtle of Woodbury, Elizabeth and Harvey Freeze of Elkhart, Ind. She was preceded in death by brothers, Willie and L.D. Ferrell, and sister, Elsie Dean Ferrell.

Manchester resident and Warren County native Everett Eugene Turner, 71, died unexpectedly March 13 at Williamson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
A retired aerospace engineer with Sverdrup at AEDC and a member of the Church of Christ, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. The son of Oscar Earl and Willie Everett Hurtt Turner, he is survived by his wife, Sue Turner; sons, Joel E. Turner of Montgomery, Ala., John A. Turner of Manchester and Nathan E. Turner of Knoxville; daughter, Abigail Turner of Franklin; grandchildren, Amy N. Turner, Adam E. Turner, Casey L. Turner, Megan Ann Turner, Lauren N. Turner and William Everett Eason; brothers, Isaac, James F. William Edward (Bill), Franklin and Marion Turner, all of Morrison; and sisters, Clata Groves of Rock Island and Dorothy Pierce of Poplar Bluff, Mo.
