C.E. (Doog) Deaton, 84
An employee of Thomas Industries and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
The son of Claude E. and Nora McBride Deaton, he is survived by his wife, Nina Deaton; son, Allen Deaton of Rock Island; grandchildren, Seth and Karaline Deaton; brothers, Elmer Deaton of Rock Island and Doug Deaton of McMinnville; and sisters, John Ann Grissom and Janiette Yates Deaton, both of Rock Island, Maxine Roberts of Ware Sholes, S.C., and Sue Palombo of McMinnville.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with Ed Wilhite and Steve Breedlove officiating. Burial will follow at McElroy Cemetery with military graveside rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
