Alyssa Ledbetter claimed the title of the 20th 4-H Dairy Princess in the annual pageant held Saturday evening at Three Star Mall. The pageant culminated a day of dairy activities in observance of June Dairy Month and is presented by the Warren County 4-H organization. Ledbetter was chosen from a field of 21 contestants in grades four through six. She is the 9-year-old daughter of Greg and Melanie Ledbetter, and is a student at Hickory Creek Elementary. Alyssa enjoys softball, swimming and being involved in her church. The petite, brown-eyed blonde said, ‘I am very excited to be crowned Dairy Princess. I have been chosen runner-up in other pageants, but this is my first crown.’ Others receiving honors are Jarah Mai Anderson, daughter of Johnny and Donna Anderson, first runner-up; and Madison Michaela Taylor, daughter of Kim Nunley and Michael Taylor, second runner-up. Miss Congeniality honors were bestowed on Hannah Lea Turner, daughter of Chad and Jennifer Turner. Others named to the Top Ten, in addition to the court and Turner, include, Emily Bouldin, daughter of Peter Bouldin and Dena Foster; Elaine Champion, daughter of Monica Champion; Eden Ann Fryar, daughter of Ron and Becky Fryar; Caitlin Jade Stoner, daughter of Tami and Terry Stoner; and Madeline Grace Prater, daughter of Shane and Sheryl Prater. The 2007 Dairy Princess Bliss Zechman made the award presentations, and spoke with the audience about her year of activities, thanking the organizers of the event for making it such a success. Hilda Lytle served as mistress of ceremonies, with Ryan Mellons and Clay Prater offering assistance to the contestants by serving as ushers. Tennessee 4-H Performing Troupe member Joshua Moore entertained the crowd with his singing ability, presenting numerous country hits. June Dairy Month chairman Allen Betschart offered congratulations to all contestants and conveyed the importance of recognizing the dairy industry, not only this month, but all year.
