Dawn Tittsworth weds in Nashville

The wedding of Latisha Dawn Tittsworth and Dr. Kenneth Eugene Vargas was held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Nashville on November 3. The 7 p.m. ceremony was officiated by the Reverend K.C. Ptomey of Westminster.

The bride is the daughter of Jan and Roger Turner and granddaughter of the late Ann B. Dillon. The groom is the eldest son of Jose and Dora Vargas of Cleveland.

The bride wore a Pronovias mermaid style ivory wedding gown with a beaded lace overlay and chapel length train. She carried a modern monochromatic nosegay of ivory lilies and roses embedded with crystal jewels with two lily garlands of various lengths dripping from the bouquet.

The couple exchanged vows in a classic and elegant candlelit ceremony. The chancel area was illuminated by numerous candelabra covered with jasmine vine while alongside cylindrical vases filled with candles covered the retable and stage area. The chancel was flanked on both sides by large urns filled with sweet odiferous jasmine. A prominent single candle was lit during the ceremony by the bride in memory of her late grandmother.

Betsy Pridemore of Indianapolis served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were long-time friend Shelley Wanamaker, and Lindsay Johnson of Nashville. They each wore v-necked iridescent taffeta dresses, a rich chocolate brown in color with a matching sash. The bridesmaids carried a monochromatic multi-floral tuft bouquet of pink cymbidium orchids, straw flower, burgundy calla lilies, pink nerine lilies and tufts of pink feathers with a collar of ribbon loops.

Maddie and Aubrey Pridemore, daughters of the matron of honor, served as flower girls. They wore matching ivory silk dresses, crystal jeweled headbands and carried long chocolate colored fern curls resembling a magical wand with pink nerine lilies at the top.

The best man was Dr. Charles Kanos of Greenville, S. Car. Groomsmen were brothers Dennis Vargas of Boulder, Colorado and Roy Vargas of Austin, Texas. Ushers were Ken Woodard of Nashville and Brian Pesterfield of Cleveland.

Guests were welcomed by the couple to a cocktail reception at the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in downtown Nashville. Keeping with the modern and simplistic d??cor from the ceremony, the couple chose a lounge feel for the performance hall complete with various sitting areas of white banquette sofas, armless chairs and ottomans covered with trays of candles. Cocktail and bistro tables were adorned with square cylindrical vases filled with floating orchids and tulips. Following the couple’s first dance and cutting of the four-tier octagonal cake, guests were entertained into the wee hours with the musical talents of Mel and the Party Hats. A surprise to all guests, as well as the bride, the groom joined the band as a guest guitarist for a performance of Billy Idol’s ‘White Wedding.’

After honeymooning in Maui, the couple now reside in Nashville. The new Mrs. Tittsworth-Vargas is employed with Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Ken Vargas is in medical practice at Centennial Medical Center.
