Allergic reaction causes wreck

Four people were injured Monday when a woman having an allergic reaction to medication passed out and triggered a four-vehicle wreck on Chancery Street.

Everyone in the Monday afternoon crash escaped serious injury, however, four of the victims were taken to River Park Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Among the injured was Connie Smith, whose PT Cruiser started the chain-reaction crash.

Smith told police she blacked out as she was approaching the intersection of Chancery Street and Hobson Street, apparently due to medication which caused a reaction. Her vehicle struck a Dodge Ram driven by Michael Adamson, which, in turn, hit a Camaro driven by Tracy Cherry, which, in turn, struck a F-150 pickup driven by Gail Jenkins. The entire collision occurred in front of the Village area of Chancery Street during the afternoon rush and caused heavy traffic congestion.

Along with Smith, three passengers in the Cherry vehicle were taken to the hospital including Melissa Guerra, 31, Shawn Fults, 13, and David Guerra, 6.
