Pioneer basketball camp starts tomorrow
The annual Future Pioneer Basketball Camp conducted by the WCHS Pioneer basketball team and coaching staff tips off Monday in the Charlie Dalton gym. The camp will run from Monday through Wednesday.
The camp is available for students who will be in grades K-8 for the upcoming school year with campers being divided into two sessions.
Campers K-4th grade will attend camp from noon until 2 p.m, while rising fifth- through eighth-graders will attend from 8-11 a.m.
Once again, the Future Pioneer Camp will feature individual and group fundamental instruction, with several skill competitions where players can square off against each other.
‘We will offer age-appropriate instruction in the offensive and defensive fundamentals of the game,’ said head coach Ryan Smith.
‘At the same time, we are going to make the camp fun and exciting for everyone. We have had great success with our camps over the years with players from all around the county attending. The earlier we can get these kids out here and help teach them the proper shooting technique, the more all the programs in the county will benefit.’
Last year over 70 players attended the three-day camp. This year’s camp is expected to be even bigger and better.
If you haven’t already registered, you can sign up on Monday at a cost of $40 per camper, which includes a T-shirt.
