Aubrey Watson’s photos to appear at library
The exhibit will feature historic photographs and recent photographs of scenes from McMinnville and throughout Warren County by photographer Aubrey Watson. An official bicentennial event, it is sponsored by First National Bank.
Watson, a freelance photographer, author and lecturer, spent the first decade of his career as the staff photographer for the Tennessee Game and Fish Commission/Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
A successful advertising photographer for several years, he now devotes full time to documentary and outdoor photography as well as writing. He has worked in Ireland, Scotland, Central America, most of the United States and all of Tennessee. He has authored five books for Freidman, Fairfax Group, Doubleday and Random House of New York, as well as Chrysalis Books Group of London.
He wrote and photographed ‘Nashville in Photographs,’ produced by Chrysalis Books Group and published by Random House, New York. He also produced the contemporary photographs for ‘Nashville Then and Now,’ by Karina McDaniel; and ‘Memphis Then and Now,’ by Russell Johnson, produced by Chrysalis Books Group for Thunder Bay Press, San Diego.
During the past few years, he has conducted photography and writing workshops for Magness Library and enjoys traveling the Warren County countryside in search of scenes of natural beauty for his collection.
‘We are very proud to have an exhibit of this caliber at Magness Library,’ said library director Mary Robbins, ‘and are honored to have it sponsored by First National Bank.’
The public is invited to attend the exhibit opening in the library’s Fountain Room. For more information, call the library at 473-2428.
