Nellie Irene Meeks, 71

Warren County native, and a retired CNA at NHC Healthcare, Mrs. Nellie Irene Meeks died Dec. 24 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville following an extended illness. She was 71 years of age and the daughter of the late Charles and Lela Parlie Boren Morgan. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Johnny B. Meeks of this city; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Sandy Newby and Brayton and Stephanie Harris, all of McMinnville; two daughters, Kim Engleman and fiance’ Rob Gross of Howard City, Mich., Johnie Meeks of Nashville; one sister, Ray Mathis of McMinnville and one brother, Norman Morgan of McMinnville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Odie, James and Oscar Morgan and sister, Mae McBride.

Visitation was Thursday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at High Funeral Home, and will be today from 8 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at High’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory with Lane Dix officiating.
