City doesn’t have quick response to E911 Center’s annexation request
Although hoping for a speedy entrance into the city of McMinnville, the Warren County E911 Center will have to wait a little while longer.
The Planning Commission, scheduled to meet Monday at noon to discuss the possible annexation of the property, had no quorum for the discussion.
Three weeks ago, the Warren County Emergency Communication District board made the request to annex the center and the adjacent lot. In that request letter, the board ‘wished this process could be expedited, if possible, due to the construction under way on and near the property owned by the district.’
McMinnville’s Planning Commission consists of seven members. Out of those seven, four have to be present to discuss and make decisions on items brought before the board. At the meeting to discuss 911 Center annexation, only three members were present.
The problem, most likely, is the change in the time of day the commission meets. In the past, the meetings were held at 5 p.m. one Monday each month. This time was chosen because it seems to be a time when most members are off work.
While some members like this time, it makes getting there difficult for others. With this in mind, the time will be changed back.
The next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for Oct. 8 immediately after the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting at 5 p.m. The day and time seems to be agreeable to the members.
