Bowling: Dr Pepper takes early lead

After taking the spring championship in the Gold and Silver Bowling league, Dr Pepper started out on the right foot during Tuesday’s opening session of the summer league.

Dr Pepper leads the league standings after their opening week with four points, while Cumberland Lumber and McMinnville Lanes are tied for second with three points each.

Crouch Motors and Security Federal have one point apiece, while Team 3 acquired 0 points.

Patty Womack had the high game (180) and series (524) on the women’s side Tuesday, while Jean Simmons rolled a 175 game and a 452 series. Frances Hobbs turned in a game of 160 and a series of 459.

Gene Bess and Larry Patton tied for the men’s high games, each bowling a 190, while Bess had the high men’s series, a 520. Patton had a 504 series, while Wade Tomlin had a 498 series and a 182 game and Keith Hollingsworth had a 496 series.

High team game went to Crouch Motors with a 647, while McMinnville Lanes had the high team series, a 1882.
