Phillip B. Moffitt Jr., 52
A member of the American Legion, First United Methodist Church and the National Poet Society where he was a published poet, he served with the Manchester Fire Department from 1974-1996 and then served as deputy fire marshal from 2000 until present. He also received his master’s degree in criminal science from Canterbury University in 2002. He served his community teaching the fire prevention program throughout the Coffee County system. He also served as past president of the Tennessee Fire Association.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debbie Walden Moffitt; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Donna Moffitt of McMinnville; daughter and son-in-law, Desiree and Robert Taylor of Manchester; grandchildren, Brady and Hannah Moffitt, Natalie Taylor and Robert (Max) Taylor Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Kaye and Bill Woods of Manchester.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Manchester Funeral Home with Albert Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Manchester Funeral Home
