It’s Fair Time: Warren County A&L Fair well under way

Cows, horses, goats, chickens and petting zoo animals are livening up their end of the fairgrounds as they await official judging.
The various food booths are offering the usual tasty hamburgers and homemade desserts with most vendors also providing a specialty treat to distinguish themselves from the others.
An array of vintage quilts on display over the weekend at the fifth annual Antique Quilt Show brought a burst of color to the Fairfield Village Courthouse as a first-day feature of the award-winning county fair. All entries were required to have been hand-pieced and hand-quilted prior to 1973.
Senior Citizens Beauty and Talent Show/Fun Festival claimed the grandstand area yesterday with fun and games getting under way at 8:30 a.m., followed by a sack lunch and Bingo games.
“The new ramps made it possible for all our senior guests, including those in wheelchairs, to have easy access to our activities,” said Cheryl Watson Mingle, executive director of the Senior Center.
The grandstands were filled to capacity last night as over 80 young girls competed for the Little Fairest of the Fair crown. And a host of parents, grandparents and friends will be gathering this afternoon as over 200 infants parade across the stage in the annual Baby Show. A highlight of the week will be the selection of Fairest of the Fair from a field of 42 beauties Thursday evening. Look for photos of the pageant winners as a Style feature in Sunday’s newspaper.
