3 ex-Vols sign with Buffalo
Call them the Tennessee Trio that made a big Volunteer splash in Buffalo.
Defensive backs Rashad Baker and Jabari Greer, and defensive end Constantin Ritzmann, all undrafted free agents and college teammates last year, suddenly have another thing in common. They’re now Buffalo Bills players after making it through the final round of NFL cuts on Sunday.
“It’s truly amazing,” Baker said on Monday.
“I always knew that we had talent. It’s just the timing,” Greer added.
Boy, did 31 teams miss out when all three of them went undrafted last spring, Ritzmann chimed in.
“We all kind of felt, ‘Man, this is not right,”‘ Ritzmann said. “So we all came in here knowing that we were going to give everything we’ve got to make this football team.”
As backups, it’s uncertain how much playing time — other than possibly special teams — any of the three will get when the Bills open their regular season hosting Jacksonville on Sunday.
What’s clear is what a big accomplishment it is for all three of them to get this far.
