St. John, Owen says marriage vows
Wendall VanValin performed the wedding at 4 o’clock in the afternoon.
The bride is the daughter of Shelby Hudson and granddaughter of Olin E. Steele, the late Etta Lou Steele, Wilson and Emma St. John.
Danny and Sandi Owen are the bridegroom’s parents. He is the grandson of the late James E. and Hattie I. Crouch, Twila and Carl Underwood and the late Milburn Owen.
The “Bridal Chorus” by Wagner was played for the processional and “Wedding March” by Mendelssohn provided the recessional. Collin Raye’s recording of “In This Life” was used for the lighting of the unity candle.
For the outdoor ceremony, white lattice panels and archway were draped with swags of tulle, ivy, daisies, chrysanthemums and other spring flowers in the bride’s chosen colors of yellow and pink. Brass candelabras and candle stands were also decorated with tulle and ivy while brass and white lattice plant stands held baskets of Boston fern with sprays in yellow and pink.
Wrought iron shepherd’s hooks supported hanging baskets of fresh yellow and pink petunias. White satin bows marked the special seating arrangement.
The bride was escorted by Earl Campbell, cousin of the bride, in the absence of her uncle, the late Jack Campbell. She was attired in a strapless princess-style gown of bridal satin designed with a long A-line skirt and sheer train embellished with lace motifs and a scalloped lace hem. Her finger-tip length veil of silk illusion was caught to a narrow bridal halo that accented her upswept hairstyle.
She carried a cascading bouquet of roses, daisies, calla lilies, day lilies and ivy.
Matron of honor was Amanda Dawn Morton, who was accompanied by the bridal couple’s daughter, Alyssa Jade Owen. Flower girl was Alexandria Riley “Alex” Owen of Morrison, niece of the bridegroom.
The honor attendant wore a strapless satin gown in a champagne hue with an asymmetrical drape accenting the long gathered skirt.
The little girls wore pastel pink, tea-length frocks. The sheer bodices featured soutache embroidered daisies over wide waistbands and the layered chiffon skirts were trimmed in satin. They wore halos of daisies and baby’s breath and held miniature nosegays of pink and yellow flowers.
Adam Bailey Owen of Morrison, nephew of the bridegroom, was ring bearer.
Best man was Jeremy Trent Britton and groomsman was Kenneth Lee Owen, brother of the bridegroom.
Mother of the bride wore a pink floral ensemble with a tea-length hemline and pink sheer jacket complimented by a pink rose corsage. The bridegroom’s mother wore a two-pieced yellow dress and a corsage of yellow roses.
The reception was given by the bridal parents at the church’s outdoor pavilion where the support posts were covered in white and adorned with sprays of daisies and white satin bows.
Baskets of fresh yellow and pink begonias were placed on plant stands. White lace was draped over yellow cloths covering the reception tables. Guest tables were centered with bouquets of spring flowers arranged in small watering cans and daisy floating candles graced other boards.
The bridal bouquet served as the central floral arrangement on the bride’s table that was overlaid with yellow gingham check and white lace. The three-tiered wedding cake with petal-shaped layers was topped with a small nosegay of yellow daisies, butterflies and a white satin bow. Tulle and daisies surrounded the crystal punch bowl and more daisies were scattered along the board. Placed at each end of the table were ferns on brass stands.
Presiding at the bride’s table were Marie and Becca Campbell while Scott Williams served at the bridegroom’s table. Approximately 60 guests were in attendance.
The couple honeymooned in Port Saint Lucie, Fla., and are now residing on Short Mountain Road in McMinnville. For traveling, the bride had changed into a blue floral sundress with a tea-length hemline.
Both are graduates of Warren County High School. He received an associate’s degree in CAD from Motlow State Community College. She is employed by Lowes and he is an employee of TennSmith.
