July 4 celebration dates announced
Those who are torn between celebrations will have some relief this year as the city of McMinnville will celebrate the Fourth of July on separate days than the outlying communities.
The downtown celebration in McMinnville, as well as the Dr Pepper fireworks display held outside McMinnville Civic Center, will be held Monday, July 5. That’s when the city will observe its official Fourth of July holiday.
This will also mean certain city services, like garbage routes, will not be running and will be continued on Tuesday. City hall will also be closed July 5.
Meanwhile, the celebrations in Morrison, Midway and Fairview have been slated for Saturday, July 3.
Morrison will begin its celebration at 4 p.m., with events continuing in downtown Morrison throughout the day concluding with fireworks.
Midway will begin festivities at 10 a.m. Saturday., also culminating in fireworks displays at 9 p.m.
Fairview CIC, located on Highway 56 South between McMinnville and Irving College, will begin their festivities at 8 a.m. Saturday, with events running until fireworks that evening.
The city’s celebration will begin downtown at 7 a.m. Monday with the Fun Run and Walk and pancake breakfast. The Yankee Doodle Parade, along with other events, will continue throughout the morning. The annual Dr Pepper fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m. outside the Civic Center.
The re-scheduling of events comes as July 4 will fall on Sunday this year and celebration of Independence Day would conflict with religious observances.
