Jaycees will no longer maintain complex
Since 1981, the McMinnville Jaycees have overseen the softball complex at the Warren County Fairgrounds. We have been responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the ball fields since that time. This was made possible by funding from Warren County.
In recent years, due to economic difficulties, that funding was cut, making the maintenance and upkeep more difficult. Additionally, the Jaycees have been making efforts to meet the needs of various people in our community.
The McMinnville Jaycees have determined that, while we have taken pride in the softball complex and have enjoyed working there, we would like to continue our focus on meeting the needs of people in our community, rather than putting more money and manpower into the softball complex.
Therefore, we hope Warren County will be able to find another organization that would be better able to maintain and keep the ball fields going on the smaller budget, allowing us to focus on our community.
We want to thank Warren County for allowing us the opportunity to learn and grow while operating the ball fields, and we thank everyone who has generously volunteered their time to the maintenance and upgrade of the fields. We are also grateful to the many organizations that rented the fields from us and were patient with us while we learned. We have enjoyed the many years we were allowed to be a part of your lives in this way.
The Jaycees is a group of young men and women ages 21 to 39 who enjoy getting together to work on projects for the community while learning leadership skills.
