Raintree Manor honors employees

Across the state, 33,000 nursing home employees dedicate their lives to serving others.

In appreciation for their hard work and tireless efforts, long-term care employees recently celebrated Nursing Home Caregiver Appreciation Day.

During a special ceremony, Raintree Manor honored its 143 employees who provide 24-hour continuing care to its nursing home patients.

“Nursing home employees are everyday heroes who go above and beyond the call of duty on a day-to-day basis,” said Rebecca Gay Lane, facility administrator. “Our employees put their energy, efforts and hearts into providing patients with the highest quality of care and that kind of care does not come easy. It’s a lot of hard work, but our employees look forward to the challenge because they personally care about each patient.”

Several Raintree employees were honored during the ceremony with nominations submitted by staff members, residents and resident family members. The employee with the most nominations was awarded Caregiver of the Year.

Finalists included Terry Pardue, Marie Alt, Glenda Wallace, Nancy Hayes, Devonya King, Mike Perry, Betty Cole, Susan Medley, and Charlene Woodlee.

Receiving the Caregiver of the Year award was Raintree employee Carson Rust. Rust received a number of positive comments from fellow employees on his nomination forms indicating why he was chosen.

“He takes time to do things for residents even on his own time,” said Tommy Adams. “Carson makes them laugh and makes them smile. He listens and works out problems with them.”
