Ware named Morrison Citizen of the Year

Charles Ware, a Warren County native and longtime Morrison resident, is this year’s recipient.
“He is the type of person when he sees something needs to be done in the community or someone is in need of help, he will show up and do more than his share,” one person wrote in nominating Ware for the award.
Ware spent his early years in McMinnville where he attended Central High School for two years. He then moved to Morrison where he met his wife, the former Nancy Griswold. The couple has four children – Ruthie Brooks, Brenda Robinson, Clark Ware and Ellen Brazle.
Ware has held many jobs throughout his life, but the one that makes him beam with pride is his first job at age 5. He carried water to workers at Boyd Nursery for the summer. In lieu of wages, he earned himself a bicycle.
Ware joined the National Guard at 16 where he served for six years, both in Tennessee and Indiana. Ware is most noted as the owner/ operator of Sinclair Service Station in downtown Morrison.
When Carrier came to Morrison, he sold the service station and worked for Carrier until his retirement at age 55. But since sitting is not familiar to Ware, he started another job with Brad Ragan Goodyear where he retired again at 62.
Ware has been a member of Morrison United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. He is also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 381, Warren County Laity Club and the National Street Rod Association. In addition, he was a founding member of the Morrison Ruritan Club and the Morrison Street Rods.
