Laura Bell Durham, 95
McMinnville resident and Warren County native Laura Bell Durham, 95, died Jan. 29 at NHC Healthcare after an extended illness.

A homemaker and member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late T.L. and Minnesota Elrod Burkett; and was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Murry Durham in 1957; son, Jesse Mack Durham and Mary Joyce Durham.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Harold L. and Frances Durham of Nashville, Aaron L. and Kay Durham of McMinnville and Anthony D. and Danette Durham of Knoxville; grandchildren, Laura Duncan of Nashville, Brad Durham of McMinnville, Jennifer Lee Durham of Pasadena, Cal., Julie Anne Durham of Boulder, Co., David Durham of Knoxville and Amy Riley of Dallas, Tx.; step-granddaughter, Kami Smith of McMinnville; one great-grandchild; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at High’s Chapel with Eben Gilbert and Paul Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service tomorrow at High’s.

Donna Kaye Conoway Barkes, 42
McMinnville resident and Clinton County, Pa., native Donna Kaye Conoway Barkes, 42, died unexpectedly Jan. 28 in Morrison.

She is survived by son, Brandon Barkes of McMinnville; daughter, Dynasty Barkes of McMinnville; mother and stepfather, Edna and Eugene Orzech of McMinnville; brother, Robert W. Conoway of McMinnville; sisters and brother-in-law, Diane Spivey of McMinnville, Darlina and Kenny Huntley of Morrison; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at High’s Chapel with Carl Bouldin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service today at High’s.

Clyde Eller, 85
McMinnville resident and Jackson County native Clyde Eller, 85, died Jan. 29 at River Park Hospital.

A retired farmer, member of the Methodist Church and 32-year commissioner of the Double Springs Water District, he was the son of the late O.W. and Lola Pharris Eller; and was preceded in death by his son, David Eller; and brother, John Harrison Eller.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Brown Eller; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Jimmie Eller of McMinnville; daughter-in-law, Linda Eller of Memphis; brother, Vernon Eller of Franklin; and grandchildren, David Matthew Eller of McMinnville and Laura Marylove Eller of Memphis.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Anderson Funeral Home in Gainsboro with Bob Case officiating. Burial will follow at Granville Cemetery in Granville. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service today at Anderson Funeral Home.

Jack Edward Dye, 84
McMinnville resident and Russell County, Va., native Jack Edward Dye, 84, died Jan. 29 at Medical Center of Manchester after a brief illness.

A retired auto mechanic with Puckett Motors, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Church of God of Prophecy, he was the son of the late Ernest and Effie Dye; and was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Tucker in 1989; and daughter, Bobbie Jean Davis in 1958.

He is survived by grandchildren and their spouses, Kennith and Cathey Davis, Vickie Davis, and Terry and Star Davis, all of McMinnville; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and longtime friend, Anna Markum of McMinnville.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at High’s Chapel with Paul Dunlap and John Welcome officiating. Burial and military graveside rites performed by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173 will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be held beginning at 11 a.m. today and from 8 a.m. until the time of the service tomorrow at High’s.

Frankie Lee Scruggs, 65
McMinnville resident and Grundy County native Frankie Lee Scruggs, 65, died unexpectedly Jan. 26 at River Park Hospital.

A retired machinist at Accu-Router, he was the son of Jim and Lola Sanders Scruggs; and was preceded in death by stepfather, Oscar B. King; and sisters, Minnie Lee King and Rosa Nell Hammers.

He is survived by his wife Wilma Elene Scruggs; daughter, Melissa Dunlap of Rock Island; sons, Mark and Anthony Scruggs, both of McMinnville and Alton Scruggs of Beersheba Springs; brothers, John Scruggs of Gruetli-Laager and Ted Scruggs of Grundy County; sister, Gertrude Coppinger of Irving College; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Tuesday at High’s Chapel with Cotton Ross officiating. Burial followed at Center Hill Cemetery at Hill’s Creek.
