Keeping Ten Commandments a vote of courage

Your letters in the Southern Standard have been such an inspiration to me I want to tell everyone how fortunate we are to have a loving God and a free country. God’s judgment of our fallen world is not one of wrath but the ultimate expression of hope and love for us today.

God’s love and mercy are our protection today. Jerry Denton’s letter spoke a world of truth. God gave each of us the freedom of choice. Mr. Denton’s closing remark states clear without wavering.

We highly encourage all people to take advantage of the wonderful opportunity of American freedom. I have received calls saying, “I am praying for Mr. Kyle Williams. He surely has not heard about God’s sacrifice of His only son that we might have life more abundantly.”

Christine Jones Oakes inked a brilliant letter with a question it behooves all of us to consider.

“Wasn’t it an atheist who thought he could create a better society by ridding the world of all others but his kind?”

This report from Argentina is the country is facing the greatest economic crisis in history. Thousands are out of work. People have had their entire savings wiped out. Hopelessness and fear grip the nation. Those of us who can remember the Great Depression, even with the storm clouds on the horizon, know how very much we have to be thankful for. Everyone needs to know our precious savior and merciful God. He is coming back soon to receive His own to himself. Everyone should read Psalm 9:9, “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed ?”

In closing, I want to compliment the courage of Danice Taylor in remarks concerning the Ten Commandments issue.

“If a judge orders it down, he can come take it down himself. I’m not going to do it. And if he wants to throw me in jail, he can go right ahead because I’m already here.” A gentleman of this courage should be president!

May God grant us another Thanksgiving and a clearer knowledge of His gift of His son with a happy Christmas.
Sincerely,
