Bam Bam Bigelow calls an end to his ring career

Bam Bam Bigelow has retired from pro wrestling. His age — 41 — and a bad back have combined to help make this his last year in the ring.

Bigelow was a good wrestler, but a better man outside the ring. In the summer of 2000 he suffered severe burns saving a child from a forest fire. Later that year, he helped raise over $50,000 for the same child to help with medical bills, all the while facing over $25,000 in medical expenses himself.

Bam Bam was wrestling for USA Pro Wrestling early this year, but lately has been working for local promotions in the northeast.

• Maybe HHH was right when he said there was something going on between X-Pac and Chyna a few years ago.

Joanie Laurer (Chyna) was on “The Best Sports Show Period” last week, when she told the world that she was engaged — and that her fiance was in the crowd. She then asked Sean Waltman (X-Pac) to stand up.

Oh, there is a small problem for the happy twosome. Waltman is still married to the mother of his two children.

• Have you noticed that “Raw” has gone off the air closer to 10 p.m. the last two weeks?

That’s because TNN said they, the WWE, had been abusing the amount of time they are given for overrun.

The time is supposed to be no longer than seven minutes, but “Raw” had been using 10 to 15 minutes the last month. TNN was not pleased, because it was hurting the “CSI” reruns.

• Perry Saturn was officially released from the WWE this week.
