Westwood Warriors forced to pay for their vandalism

The price of a week of mischief will be high for the families of the youths who vandalized Westwood last month.

The youngest members of the group, known as the Westwood Bandits, were issued sentences this week by Juvenile Court Judge Larry Ross. Two of the boys, ages 10 and 13, were directed to make restitution in the amount of $3,300 apiece, while a third member, age 13, who participated in a single night of vandalism, must pay $492. All three boys must also perform community service work. Their names have not been revealed by police due to their underage status.

The final and eldest member of the group, Nathaniel L. Nunley, 18, was bound over to the grand jury. If convicted, or if he enters a plea to the vandalism charge, he will likely also be required to make $3,300 restitution.

The youths were arrested last month following a rash of vandalism in the Westwood area. Police say the boys spray-painted cars, vandalized Boyd Christian School, toppled signs, destroyed mailboxes and committed other actions of mischief over a one-week period. Most of the youths reportedly confessed when questioned by police.

Many of the vandalized sites were spray painted with the letters “WWW” which reportedly stood for Westwood Warriors. The name is supposedly the name of a football team to which some of the boys belonged.
