Lady Broncos lose close one
Dara Webb hit the mound for the Lady Broncos and held the Wildcats to four runs after three endings.
Gordonsville scored four runs in the first, but Boyd tied the game at 4-4 by the end of the fourth. The Lady Broncos added three more runs in the fifth to take the lead, 7-6, but had problems in the field and allowed Gordonsville to score in the fifth and sixth and take the lead for good.
Boyd loaded the basses in the sixth and had a chance to take the lead, but hit into a fielders choice to end the game.
For Boyd Abbye Barnes was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Scarlette Hodge was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Webb, Amber Hodge, Holly Ferrell, Mary Reynolds, Tenara Jones all had hits, and Alicia Driver reached base twice on walks.
The Lady Broncos take on Watertown in their first home game of the season Thursday at 4 p.m.
