Fairest of the Fair postponed until Saturday
|
Because of heavy rain, the heralded Fairest of the Fair pageant was postponed from its traditional Thursday night time slot. It has been moved to Saturday at 1 p.m. and will still take place at Grandstand Arena.
Pageant organizers made the decision yesterday around 12:30 p.m. Using five cell phones, they then proceeded to call contestants and other pageant officials as quickly as possible.
“The girls will need to be here Saturday at 10:30 a.m.,” said pageant organizer Linda Partin. “That’s when we’ll start interviews and pictures.
“Because there will be a mule show going on, the girls won’t be able to pull around and park in the arena. The pageant will start at 1 p.m., or just as soon as the mule show is over.”
The last time the Fairest of the Fair pageant was postponed was 25 years ago due to Hurricane Frederick.
Shortly after making the decision to postpone last night’s Fairest of the Fair, pageant organizers were under the grandstand on their cell phones giving contestants the news.
